MEANYC's Elementary Honors Festival will be a one-day event on Saturday, October 19th from 9am-Noon, featuring an elementary band and an elementary chorus. The Elementary Honors Festival welcomes ALL rising fourth and fifth-grade NYCDOE students (meaning, students who will be in either fourth or fifth grade in the 2024-2025 School Year).

As a fully inclusive festival, we encourage educators to nominate students who will benefit from this experience.

Elementary teachers may nominate up to two students per ensemble: band and chorus.

Students will partake in workshops, rehearsals, and a performance of two pieces per ensemble. Students will receive music digitally prior to the festival, and students can use practice tracks/videos provided by MEANYC, and/or work with their music teachers to prepare their music prior to the festival.

Nominated band students should be at Level .5 or higher. If students are not using levels, their ability should be to be able to play and read approximately six notes with quarter, eighth, and whole notes. Nominated chorus students should have experience singing in unison and two-part harmony (SA).

Students will be accepted on a first come first serve basis and will be capped at one-hundred students (50 for choir, and 50 for band), so be sure to nominate your students as soon as possible!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Matthew Innamorato and Katherine Gordon (Elementary Festival Co-Chairs) at esfestival@meanyc.org.

We look forward to seeing your nomination forms!
