Let’s Talk About Inclusion: Conceptions and Misconceptions

Special education students can play a vital part in enriching your music program and school community. The presenter will share her experience and teacher training to address curriculum issues specific to inclusion programs and English Language Learners, K-12. These techniques will help you maintain high performance standards. Teachers will be given handouts that can be referenced throughout the school year.

Elise S.Sobol is a popular clinician for staff development in school districts. Her extensive biography can be found in several Who’s Who publications. She serves as the NYSSMA Music for Special Learners Chairperson. She is an adjunct professor on the Music Education faculties at NYU and C.W. Post/Long Island University and is a full time Music in Special Education teacher at the Nassau BOCES Rosemary Kennedy School for students with autism and developmental disabilities. She is the author of An Attitude and Approach for Teaching Music to Special Learners and has been named one of America’s National Honor Roll of Outstanding Teachers. Ms. Sobel is also known for her international programs “Enrich Each Day the Musical Way”, “Bridges for Learning with Music” and “Reaching Higher with Music in Education”.
